
Ciprian Ignat is a Professor and Head of Department at the Faculty of Security and Defence, “Carol I” National Defence University, Bucharest. A graduate of the “Ștefan cel Mare” Military High School in Câmpulung Moldovenesc (2000) and the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu (2004), he completed a master’s in security studies and European Integration (2007) from the Faculty of Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, and earned a PhD in Political Science (2011, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, Iași), he previously served in operational and staff positions within the Romanian Armed Forces, including the 151st “Războieni” Battalion (2005–2008), the 15th Mechanized Brigade “Podu Înalt” (2008–2011) in Iași, and the Defence Staff (2011–2015). Between March and August 2008, he participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Dr Ignat teaches courses such as Nuclear Policies, Strategies, and Doctrines; Multinational Operations; Crisis Management; Defence Studies; and Conflict Mediation.
He is the author of several books, course materials, and numerous studies and articles published in internationally indexed journals. Currently, he serves as Department Director within the “Carol I” National Defence University.
