
Dorin Popescu is the President of the Casa Mării Negre / Black Sea House Association (a public policy think-tank on the Black Sea region, the only Romanian think-tank dedicated exclusively to this area). A former diplomat with missions in Moscow, Chernivtsi, and Sarajevo, he is also Vice President of the Initiative for European Democratic Culture Association, an expert with the Platform for Regional and Black Sea Studies within the Euxglob Centre (Cluj-Napoca), and an international relations expert with the Centrul Politic. He is also a political analyst, essayist, literary critic, and former university lecturer.
He holds a PhD in Philology (2012) from “Ovidius” University of Constanța, with a thesis entitled The Paradigm of the Formation of Literary Discourse in Constantin Noica’s Work. He graduated from the Faculty of Letters and Theology of “Ovidius” University of Constanța.
Dorin Popescu is the author of the volumes Noica. Bătălia continuă (Ideea Europeană, Bucharest, 2013), Figuri ale textului anteic (Ideea Europeană, Bucharest, 2016), and Captivi la Pontul Hibrid (Ideea Europeană, Bucharest, 2020), as well as coordinator of Răzbunarea barbarilor. 2000 de ani fără Ovidiu la Tomis (Ideea Europeană, Bucharest, 2017) and Marea Neagră în căutarea hegemonului pierdut (Presa Universitară Clujeană, Cluj-Napoca, 2023).
He has published approximately 250 works in various scientific journals. His main areas of interest include the geopolitics of the Black Sea, international relations, political studies, essays, cultural studies, history of culture, and literary criticism. He is married and has three children.
