Miruna Butnaru-Troncotă is an Associate Professor (Habil.) and Director of the Centre for European Studies at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA). In her career, she worked as a political officer intern at the Embassy of Romania in Sarajevo (2013) and at the EU Delegation to Pristina (2014). She holds a PhD in Political Science from SNSPA, with a thesis on the Europeanisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and studied Political Science at SNSPA.

Her research focuses on EU foreign and security policy and post-conflict reconstruction in the Western Balkans. She has held several research fellowships in Berlin, Ljubljana, Graz, and Warsaw.

She has published extensively in the field of reconstruction in the Western Balkans, and her recent co-edited volume with Radu Cucută and Ali Onur Ozcelik is “Reconfiguring EU Peripheries: Political Elites, Contestation and Geopolitical Shifts (Helsinki University Press, 2024)”.
