
Silviu Nate is an Associate Professor at “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and Director of the Centre for Global Studies, an academic think tank operating within the same university. He has completed academic training programs in Romania and abroad in Political Science, International Relations, and Security Studies. In 2005, he coordinated the establishment of Romania’s first undergraduate program in Security Studies. His analytical interests focus primarily on global power dynamics, the extended Black Sea region, and transatlantic relations.
He has coordinated the drafting of several strategic policy papers on topics such as EU energy security, forced migration, security in the Wider Black Sea Region, Ukraine’s reconstruction, and the EU’s strategic vision for the Black Sea.
His expertise has been valued in conferences and strategic debates hosted by institutions such as NATO, the European Union, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Congress.
His academic focus is on refining and adapting analytical methodologies in security studies, based on the premise that intelligence is no longer a domain monopolised by state institutions.
